Abstract
This paper focus on the challenges being encountered in chemistry education. Among the challenges confronting chemistry education in Nigeria, the following were implicated; attitude of teachers, constant/frequent modification of laws/theory, fear of chemistry classes by students, rigorous experiment, inadequate laboratory, and environment. Solutions were also proffered to highlighted problems viz-a-viz a positive attitude by chemistry teachers/tutors, adequate explanations should be given for the modification of laws/theories so that student would appreciate the uniqueness of science, adequate laboratory and equipment/facilities should be made available to teachers. It was also highlighted that patience on the part of the teacher and the use of guided discovery method would not only solve the implicated problems but reposition chemistry for basic scientific and technological development that is required in Nigeria.
